Do you want to experience a real beer party with all those sounds and music, carnival rides, German delicacies and much more?  The Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany is a perfect one to go.

I have been to this cultural event thrice already but it was the first time that I witnessed the Oktoberfest parade around the city of Munich.  It was indeed a very interesting parade because you can see a lot of participants wearing various  designed and colorful costumes. I also love seeing the drum and bugle  groups when I visit   German festivals especially during their parades. I guess the one you can see in my  first image here  is a  lightweight snare. I don’t know why  but I always love listening to the beats of  drums and guitars. Well, its maybe because I love music and I love to sing also.

I am hoping to witness again the Oktoberfest parade  next time. Not maybe this year because I am still in the US but hopefully next year again.

I can’t forget our visit to this city. First and foremost, the name Avila is also the family name of my Auntie whom I did not see for over a decade now. I hope to see them once again when I go back home.

The day sightseeing we had in Avila was truly a memorable  one. I went there with new friends I met from Madrid.  We rode a train from Chamartin Train station in Madrid going to this city. I could still remember, I was freezing that day because the weather was really cold. It was the very cold wind that made it really  freezing cold. As we happened to stop-by a souvenir shop that also sells  long sleeve fleece jacket, I immediate bought one. I wore it on top of my fleece  jacket also.  I need a wind breaker that time but there is no one on the area because most shops  were closed  that day because it was a holiday in Spain.

Over all that visit to Avila was  a worth-one especially that I had a lot of fun with my new found friends in Madrid. Thank you ladies. I had a great time with you all!

Avila is notable for having complete medieval city walls which were built in the Romanesque style. It is also one of the cities with the highest number of Romanesque churches, Gothic churches and catering establishments in relation to the number of its inhabitants.

Happy month of August! I  went grocery shopping last Tuesday. There were  also other stuffs  that I need  such home scents. Yes, I bought  some of it especially that they were on sale that day. I always use it  everytime  I do some cooking. This is  good so that the  odor will  be neutral. It also makes our home feel fresh.

I love especially buying candle holders and candles with scents. I have it over-all  the house. Last time  when a friend introduced candle scents, I did not hesitated to buy  some because I know  that I always need it.

Are you familiar about the Epistle to the Ephesians? I would say, have you heard about Ephesus? I believed millions of people in this world have read this tenth book of the New Testament which is simply known as Ephesians.

It was truly a memorable trip for me visiting the historical site of Ephesus in Turkey. I can’t imagine that I was in a site where some of the words and books in the Holy Bible was written. I can’t even fathom that I was on a site where the steps of St. Paul and St. John and even Jesus Christ can be traced. I can imagine that the steps made by these great people on the road and streets of Ephesus was also being stepped by me. I felt a little honored when we were there.

I forgot the heat of the sun during  our tour in this historical and biblical ruins.  I was overwhelmed seeing its vast ruins.

The ruins of Ephesus is truly an amazing site to see. It is very famous now for international tourist. I am happy  that once in my life, I was able to visit this site. Here are some of the snapshots I took during our visit last September 2011.

The Curetes Street in Ephesus during our trip last Sept. 2011. It is one of the three main streets of Ephesus between The Hercules Gate till to the Celsus Library.This street took its name from the priests who were called as Curetes later.Their names were written in Prytaneion.

The gate with three passage ways at the right of the Celsus Library was built in 40 A.D by the slaves Mazeus and Mythridates for their emperor, Augustus, who gave them their freedom. It is also called as the Gate of Augustus.

The Library of Celsus, the façade of which has been carefully reconstructed from all original pieces, it was originally built c. 125 AD in memory of Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, an Ancient Greek  who served as governor of Roman Asia (105–107) in the Roman Empire. Celsus paid for the construction of the library with his own personal wealth, and is buried in a sarcophagus beneath it.

I finally mailed last month three boxes to my sister in the US. All those three contained ceramics, porcelain and crystal decors. My sister informed me that she had already received all the boxes. Sad to say, some of the items were damaged. I should put corner protectors on all corners of the boxes to help prevent the items inside the boxes from breaking.

I wrapped everything inside with plastic bubbles, papers and styrofoams but still some were broken. I learned a lesson from it. The next time I will send fragile items, I need to wrapped it more and put corner protectors. It was a long way from Europe to the US.

I also hope that those who are working on the post office should also take good care of the items. I heard from someone  that if you write fragile outside of the box, some employees will try to drop the boxes on the floor. Not really good!
