Baclayon Church is a Roman Catholic church and one of the oldest churches in Bohol, Philippines . It was built during the Spanish colonization in this country. It is around 6km from Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol.

I had the chance to visit this church for the second time. My first visit was in October 2006 and the second time was in February 2010. Here is an image I took during my second visit. I was trying to find a photo taken from inside the church but can’t it right now. Maybe next time again.

The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon is considered to be one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It is one of the best presevered Jesuit build churches in the region, although in the 19th century, the Augustinian Recollects added a modern facade and a number of stone buildings that now surround the church. The first Spanish missionaries or doctrineros in the region, Fr. Juan de Torres and Fr. Gabriel Sanchez, first settled in Baclayon in 1595. Shortly after their arrival, a visita was erected on the spot. Although Baclayon was the first seat of the Spanish Jesuit missionaries, fear of Moro mauraders soon forced them to move their headquarters more inland, to Loboc. Only in 1717, Baclayon became a parish, and construction of a new church commenced. Some 200 native forced laborers constructed the church from coral stones, which they took from the sea, cut into square blocks, and piled on to each other. They used bamboo to move and lift the stones in position, and used the white of a million eggs as to cement them together. The current building was completed in 1727. The church obtained a large bell in 1835. In the Baclayon church is a dungeon, which was used to punish natives who violated the rules of the Roman Catholic Church. more here

Good morning Europe! It seems that another week is coming again. I don’t know what is wrong with me again why I am still wide awake at this time. I was so tired awhile ago after coming back from Oktoberfest but now, it seems that I am alive again. Such a bad habit of me going to bed very late already. That is also the reason why I see this morning some bad things growing on my face again. I don’t need to worry because I have some home remedy for acne that is always ready all the time. I need to apply it on my face before going to bed later. I guess, I need to slowly sign-off now. I will for sure see you later again for more updates especially from the Oktoberfest 2010. Do you think only kids love to ride a bumper car? I don’t agree with that because I always have fun riding this so-called bumper car everytime we visit a festival. Here is an image taken in German-American Volksfest this year.
German-American Volksfest is a festival inside the U.S. Base in Hohenfels that takes place every year usually celebrated during the last week of April up to the first day of May. At this time, German visitors from around this area and the neighboring places are welcome to join the said festivity.

I am quite exhausted right now. We just got back home from the world’s biggest festival. Oktoberfest in Munich is truly amazing. Today was already the third time that I visited it and I even love it more. I love especially the Trachten worn by a lot of Bavarians and some visitors from other countries are also wearing the same during the fair. Dirndl and Lederhosen are the so-called Trachten or National Costumes in Germany. I am planning to buy and wear a Dirndl next year. Before, I do that I guess I need a slimming wrap to make me smaller. I still have almost a year to lose excess pounds. It was again another great experience visiting this enormous festival.
