This is already my third visit to this famous castle of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, Germany. Seeing Neuschwanstein Castle in different seasons of the year especially during winter season is truly a fascinating experience. For now, I am just sharing some images taken during my visit today with friends. This castle was the inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.

This architecture is truly amazing and marvelous!

In 1868, the ruins of the medieval twin castles were demolished completely; the remains of the old keep were blown up. The foundation stone for the Palace was laid on September 5, 1869; in 1872 its cellar was completed and in 1876, everything up to the first floor. But the Gatehouse was finished first. At the end of the year 1873 it was completed and fully furnished, allowing Ludwig to take provisional lodgings there and observe the further construction work. In 1874, direction of the civil works passed from Eduard Riedel to Georg von Dollmann. The topping out ceremony for the Palas was in 1880, and in 1884, the king could move into the new building. In the same year the direction of the project passed to Julius Hofmann, after Dollmann had fallen in disgrace.
The palace was erected as a conventional brick construction and later encased with other types of rock. The white limestone used for the fronts came from a nearby quarry. The sandstone bricks for the portals and bay windows came from Schlaitdorf in Württemberg. Marble from Untersberg near Salzburg was used for the windows, the arch ribs, the columns and the capitals. I am busy with some things today and I just realized that Valentine’s Day is almost here. Four more sleeps and the Heart’s Day comes already. I was still counting some minutes ago. I am thinking of personalized soccer balls as presents to hubby. He is a soccer fanatic and giving such presents is such a unique idea. I will see if I can catch with the order. I don’t expect any gift from hubby because I don’t need anything anymore. I already have all the things that I need. Besides, he bought a new car for me last month. Actually, it is his car but he gave it to me and he is driving mine now. I want to tell him that we would better save for our next vacation. Happy Valentine’s day in advance!

This is one of the interesting Oldtimer show I had seen. I did saw and witnessed old and historical cars during the Oldtimer Treffen in Neumarkt in der Oberfpalz, Bavaria. It was held last June 2010. I am not so sure if they will have it again this year. For sure, I will visit it again if they will have this event. I am amazed by this technology.

Hello folks! I am finally feeling better. I might not be 100% fit but very better compared to the last two days. My migraine was so bad that I kept on vomitting for two days. I thought I need injection again. I did had a bit headache this morning but I am thankful that I am feeling better now.

I was updating my Acer Netbook awhile ago. It has been a month now since I did not opened it. Its anti-virus software is not updated anymore and there are some important software updates that also needed to be installed. I am just done checking and updating it awhile ago. For those who are looking for ipad cases for your new IPads, I guess you know where to find it. I wanted to have this new technological gadget but I don’t have enough budget to buy it. Besides, I just bought a new laptop and new DSLR camera last year. I am quite happy and contented with it.

This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I had seen in Germany. I have been to this cathedral thrice already and I always love it. I was especially amazed by the beautiful frescos and paintings especially on its ceiling. It is truly an amazing work of art and architecture. St. Stephan’s Cathedral, or “Dom St. Stephan” in German, is a baroque church from 1688 in Passau, Germany. It is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Passau and the main church of his diocese.

Since 730, there have been many churches built on the site of the current cathedral. The current church, a baroque building around 100 metres (328 ft) long, was built from 1668 to 1693 after a fire in 1662 destroyed its predecessor, of which only the late gothic eastern side remains. The cathedral’s overall plan was made by Carlo Lurago, its interior decoration by Giovanni Battista Carlone, and its frescos by Carpoforo Tencalla.

Over time, the Passau Cathedral has acquired the largest organ outside of the United States. It is also the largest cathedral organ in the world. The organ currently has 17,774 pipes and 233 registers, all of which can be played with the five-manual general console in the gallery.

The cathedral has eight large bells in the bell rooms in the north and south towers. The heaviest,”Pummerin” at 7550 kg cast in 1952 and “Sturmerin” weighing 5300 kg cast in 1733 hang in the south tower. The other six bells hang in the north tower. They include: “Misericordia” weighing 6000 kg, the Angelus bell, “Predigerin”, “Elfuhrglocken”, the Choir bell, and “Dignitar”.
