5 Outdoor Snow Activities in Canada

Introduction

Canada possesses a reputation as a nation that offers countless high quality outdoor activities. This is of course (generally) due to its snowy climate. In this article, we will point to five popular snow-related activities that can you can experience in Canada.

Dog sledding

If you love dogs and snow then dog sledding could be one of your all-time greatest experiences. Dog sledding is available across the country. For example Yukon Dog sledding offers the opportunity of daily dog sledding. You can get to bond/ build trust with the dogs and then go on overnight expeditions. You can stay overnight at a heated-tent wilderness camp.

Many other similar dog-sledding opportunities promise you a cosy log-cabin to stay-in overnight.

Visit the Polar Bears in Churchill

Canada is unique in that it offers safe viewing of polar bears in the autumn as the creatures return to Manitoba in Churchill to hunt seals. Safe spectating is guaranteed in a tundra buggy or even a helicopter. The reason why this is (arguably) such a great experience is because you a watching the polar bears in their natural environment as opposed to for example, in a zoo.

Drive a Snow Mobile

Snow-mobiling has been popular in Canada for almost a century. There are many opportunities to enjoy driving through the snow in various regions of the nation…for example in Ontario and in Quebec. And you can stay safe and be taken to the most breathtaking visual areas of the snow forests by opting for snow mobile rides with expert guides. For example Maximage Adventure guarantee the safety of the mobile driver as no-one new to driving snow-mobiles is allowed to drive off by themselves.

Ski

There are many great places to ski in Canada. The following are two of the best places and most well-known places to enjoy a Canadian skiing experience.
Whistler (in British Columbia) is usually regarded and voted as the number one ski resort in the whole of North America. The likely reasons for this are… the visual experience that accompanies the skiing, the first class lift system, the nice and picturesque village, and the quality accommodation.

The Lake Louise Ski Area is a ski resort situated in Banff National Park, Alberta. While skiing the individual visually witnesses great Canadian sights such as the glaciers and natural springs… and if they are additionally lucky… they may even see grizzly bears!

Lake Louise also offers other activities such as dog sledding and ice-skating.

Quebec Ice Hotel (also known as Hotel De Glace)

Visiting an ice hotel is clearly a unique experience. And in Quebec you are able to do precisely that between the months of January and March. The hotel is built out of 15,000 tons of snow and 500,000 tons of ice. It has 36 rooms and suites and can accommodate 88 guests per night. The walls are approximately 4 feet thick. It is built every year in December before being demolished in April. All of the furniture is made out of ice and if you drink at the ice bar then you will be drinking out of an ice-glass!

To see all of these magnificent things you will have to venture from wherever you call home and come to Canada. If you find that travelling is often something you love to do why not cut the cost of these frequent flights and save up for them whilst you’re out shopping. With the aeroplan rewards card you can do just that.
