The Old Main Bridge in Würzburg, Germany

If you happen to visit the Charles Bridge in Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic, for sure you will say that it is almost the twin bridge of Würzburg’s Old Main Bridge. The Alte Mainbrücke, as it is called in German was built on 1473-1543 to replace the destroyed Romanesque bridge from 1133. You can see on the sides of the this bridge some well-known statues of saints and famous persons.

Don’t miss to visit this bridge if you have a chance to visit Würzburg. From here you can have a good view of the famous Festung Marienberg (Fortress Marienberg), one of the sights in this city.

taken during my second visit in Würzburg (Wuerzburg in English), Germany last August 2010
