It is quite ironic telling this story. When I was still waiting for my visa to come here in Europe, I was getting excited everyday because I  always wanted to experience white Christmas. I did not realize that during autumn and especially during  winter season,  a house or an apartment  in Europe needs a device or equipment to keep it warm.

In fact, during my first winter here in 2003, our heaters need to be turned-on in order the maintain the normal temperature at home. We are already happy if we can maintain 21 degree Celsius inside the house.  But then, there are consequences for this.  First, the more we  turn- higher-on our electric heaters in each room of the house, our electric bills also gets higher. Can you imagine paying almost 300 Euros every month for electricity?

During the next year, we built a fireplace  inside our home to minimize the use of our electric  heaters, thus also minimizing the electric bill. The problem is, wood oven or heater requires a lot  of work from chopping the firewood, to bringing it inside our home and  to cleaning the fireplace.  Besides, the prices for woods are also getting more expensive.  We actually saved some bucks from electric bills  when we used  the fireplace. It really helped in cutting electric bills but for us, it is not practical.

One day, we received an advertisement flyers containing pellet ovens and other forms of heating devices. We researched about  it and even asked people who are already using it,  to help us decide whether to buy a pellet oven or heater.  It cost some fortune but we can say, this heating device helped us more in cutting heating expenses. Imagine from around 270 Euros monthly bill for electricity, we are only paying  it for 120 Euros now. What a great savings we have.  I can say, we save almost a four-digit money since we started using a pellet oven. We still have the electric heaters but we only used it when it is really extremely cold outside. The fireplace is also not dismantled but we stop using it already.

Thanks to our pellet oven/heater, it did not only keep us warm during winter season but it also help us in saving some bucks.
